Certificate AuthorityThe Elliptic Curve CA is one of our CAs in TLS-O-MATIC. The regular CA is based on RSA keys, this one is based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography. In order to install it you need to download the CA certificate and install it on your test system.  The certificate is in PEM format, which is accepted by most systems.

Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) is emerging as an attractive public-key cryptosystem, in particular for mobile (i.e., wireless) environments. Compared to currently prevalent cryptosystems such as RSA, ECC offers equivalent security with smaller key sizes. (RFC 4492)

Elliptic curve keys are smaller than RSA keys – but are still very strong. This CA has a 256 bit Elliptic Curve key. The algorithms work faster, which is a good thing for all the mobile devices that are in use today.

WARNING – these certificates are totally insecure and are for test purposes only. All the tests are created to facilitate interoperability and application testing, but this is not a CA to trust for anything else than testing. We guarantee nothing. We promise nothing. Basically you are on your own. Make sure you remove the test CA certificates after testing!
